Hello,

 

I recently found my great-great grandmother Ellen (Oakley) Lemery mentioned in Menominee, MI newspaper from 1900.

It states she was born in 1843 in Detroit to a George Oakley.

 

At some point they moved to Green Bay where Ellen married Louis Lemery.

 

If anyone has any ideas on how I can locate this birth record or any family information, I would appreciate it.

Michigan did not require birth or death records until 1867.  Your best bet would be a baptismal record.  If Catholic, the Catholic Church records for the Archdiocese of Detroit are on microfilm at the Burton Historical Collection  of the main Detroit Public Library.

 

You would have to research yourself or hire a researcher.  I think the Burton has a limited amount of other church records for Protestant Churches.
